Job Description

Plant Operational Accountant (or Plant Accountant) is responsible for managing financial activities at a manufacturing plant or production facility. Their role bridges accounting principles with operational efficiency to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

    • Prepare and analyze financial statements for plant operations.

    • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production costs, material usage, and overhead expenses.

  2. Cost Accounting

    • Maintain standard cost systems and analyze cost variances.

    • Monitor direct and indirect manufacturing costs.

    • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the plant.

  3. Inventory & Fixed Asset Management

    • Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, and controls.

    • Track fixed assets, including depreciation and capital expenditures (CapEx).

  4. Compliance & Internal Controls

    • Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.) and company policies.

    • Conduct audits and implement internal controls to prevent financial discrepancies.

  5. Collaboration with Operations

    • Work closely with plant managers, production teams, and procurement.

    • Provide financial insights to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Experience: 8+ years in cost accounting, plant accounting, or manufacturing finance.

  • Technical Skills: SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems; Excel proficiency.

  • Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and strong communication.
